The Raceway at Belle Isle Park will again bristle with excitement as world-class auto racing returns to the Motor City on Labor Day weekend 2008. The Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will feature the exotic sports cars of the American Le Mans Series, the hi-tech machines of the IndyCar Series and, new for ’08, the intense competition of the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT Championship.

The weekend collectively is referred to as the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. Saturday’s American Le Mans Series race is the Detroit Sports Car Challenge presented by Bosch. Sunday’s IndyCar Series race is the Detroit Indy Grand Prix presented by Firestone and the SPEED World Challenge GT Championship also races on Sunday. Live music and family fun will also be featured throughout the weekend festival.

All net proceeds from the Grand Prix are directed to a special fund for improvements and maintenance at Detroit's jewel – Belle Isle Park.
