Ticket Sales Up 15% for 2018 Grand Prix
The event will generate excitement as the Raceway at Belle Isle Park will come alive with three days of racing, live music and family fun, June 1-3.
From the results of ticket sales for the event to date, fans are anxiously awaiting the return of the Grand Prix as sales are up by 15% over the same time period in 2017. The increase in ticket sales clearly demonstrates the elevated interest in the Grand Prix as the first green flag of the weekend draws near on Belle Isle.
"There's definitely a lot of anticipation building for the Grand Prix and we hear it from our fans everyday - they can't wait to be back on Belle Isle and celebrate the start of the summer in the Motor City," said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. "It's great to see that ticket sales are ahead of pace from this time one year ago and we encourage fans that haven't yet purchased tickets to get your orders in now. We still have some great seats left but we've really seen the interest pick up over the last few days and with the Indianapolis 500 creating a lot of buzz this week and next, we expect we'll continue to see sales increase."
Grand Prix tickets start as low as $40 and fans can purchase tickets by visiting www.DetroitGP.com/Tickets or by calling the Ticket Hotline at 866-464-PRIX (7749).
The on-track lineup at the Grand Prix continues to be one of the best in racing with seven races over three days on non-stop action, including two full-points paying Verizon IndyCar Series races on back-to-back days in the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit, along with the exotic sports cars of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship racing on Saturday, June 3 in the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic.
Off the track, the Grand Prix features entertainment for fans of all ages. The Meijer Fan Zone includes displays from the Detroit sports teams in the Detroit Sports District, interactive experiences including the IndyCar Fan Village, tailgating games inside the Party Pit, along with plenty of family-friendly activities. Throughout the weekend, local and national acts will perform on the 96-3 WDVD/NASH FM 93-1 Entertainment Stage inside the Fan Zone, including pop duo A Great Big World and rising star rocker Tom Walker on Saturday along with country music star David Nail on Sunday.
