3 Doors Down to Perform at 2015 Grand Prix
3 Doors Down, the Mississippi rock quintet that has sold more than 16 million albums worldwide, will host an evening concert at the Grand Prix, following the first Chevrolet Dual in Detroit presented by Quicken Loans race of the weekend. All Saturday Grand Prix ticket holders are welcome to attend the concert at the MotorCity Casino Hotel Stage, once again located in the Meijer Fan Zone at Belle Isle Park.
Playing some of their top hits, including songs like "Kryptonite," When I'm Gone" and "Here Without You," 3 Doors Down is also expected to give Grand Prix goers a sample of their new music as they will start recording their sixth studio album in January.
"We are excited to welcome 3 Doors Down to the Motor City Casino Hotel Entertainment Stage at the 2015 Grand Prix," said Bud Denker. "We have seen some great bands perform at the Grand Prix on Belle Isle over the last few years and we're happy to continue that tradition as we start the summer with an awesome Saturday night concert. We'll have a full day of racing on the track on Saturday, May 30 and then our fans can enjoy a fun night as we rock with 3 Doors Down."
Since forming in 1995, 3 Doors Down has garnered three Grammy nominations, two American Music Awards, and five BMI Pop Awards for songwriting, including BMI's coveted "Songwriter of the Year" award. The band's debut album, 2000's The Better Life, is now certified six times platinum. Their sophomore album, 2002's Away from the Sun, saw similar success. In 2005 they released Seventeen Days which was certified platinum and 2008's 3 Doors Down debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 Chart. In 2012, 3 Doors Down released The Greatest Hits, a collection of nine No. 1 hits and three new songs, and they returned to the Top 5 on radio with their hit song "One Light."
The 3 Doors Down concert will put the finishing touches on an action-packed Saturday at the Grand Prix. With four races on track, including the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, the Pirelli World Challenge Series, the trucks of the SPEED Energy Formula Off-Road presented by Traxxas and capped off by the first Chevrolet Dual in Detroit presented by Quicken Loans featuring the stars of the Verizon IndyCar Series, there will be plenty of excitement for fans of all ages.
