Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Presented by Lear

INDYCAR

The Verizon IndyCar Series made its debut on Belle Isle in 2007 at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. In 2013, the series began hosting two races in one weekend on back-to-back days, known as the Dual in Detroit.

In 2019, the series became known as the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.

In 2020, the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

IMSA

The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship competed as the unified sports car series for the first time on Belle Isle in 2013 at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. the Series also competed in 2014 on Belle Isle.

The Series became known as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2016.

INDY NXT

INDY NXT by Firestone serves as the stepping stone for drivers and team members looking to make the leap to INDYCAR. Since its inception in 1986, many of INDYCAR's biggest names developed their skills in INDY NXT. Notable series champions include active INDYCAR titleholders Scott Dixon and Josef Newgarden. More recently, rising stars Pato O'Ward, Colton Herta, Kyle Kirkwood, David Malukas, Christian Rasmussen, Linus Lundqvist, and Rinus VeeKay all raced in INDY NXT on their way to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.

Louis Foster, the winner of the 2024 Detroit Grand Prix, will always be known as the winner of the historic 500th INDY NXT by Firestone race.
