DETROIT, Mich. (Jan. 21, 2025) – As the excitement builds for the 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear on the Streets of Downtown Detroit, the event is looking for passionate, dedicated, community-focused people to join its volunteer organization and help host the May 30-June 1 summer festival in the Motor City.
With a goal of having approximately 1,500 volunteers in place for the 2025 Grand Prix, the Detroit Grand Prix Association (DGPA) is hoping to recruit approximately 900 new members to team up with the 600 people that have already renewed their memberships for this year. To learn more about the DGPA and to join the organization as a Grand Prix volunteer in 2025, visit the volunteer page at DetroitGP.com.
Lear Corporation proudly returns as the sponsor of the Detroit Grand Prix volunteer program in 2025. With several new volunteer areas in place for 2025 and other existing departments set to expand this year, the DGPA is targeting a total of 1,500 event ambassadors for this summer’s Grand Prix. In 2024, the DGPA reached its goal and an all-time high of 1,500 members as the hard-working volunteer corps helped produce a positive and memorable experience for Grand Prix guests. With another three-day weekend filled with on-track action and activities off the track as well in Downtown Detroit, the 2025 Grand Prix is targeting the same total number of volunteers for this summer’s event.
“The Detroit Grand Prix Association volunteers are the driving force behind the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. Their dedication and passion help bring this event to life every year and we are so thankful for their support and their commitment,” said Michael Montri, President of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. “With their collective experience and focus on customer service, our DGPA volunteers truly make the Detroit Grand Prix special. We’re looking to have approximately 1,500 volunteers as part of our team again in 2025 as we gear up for what we hope will be the best Grand Prix in Detroit’s history this summer.”
Founded in 1983, the second year that the Grand Prix was hosted in Detroit, the DGPA has emerged as one of the premier volunteer organizations in all sports. This successful model has been emulated at racing events throughout the United States and even internationally. The DGPA volunteers, known for being friendly and helpful, are excellent representatives not only for the Grand Prix but also for Detroit and the surrounding region. More than 200 DGPA members have dedicated their time as Grand Prix volunteers for a decade or more, while approximately 20 individuals have worked at the Detroit Grand Prix since the event's inception in 1982.
The DGPA is currently recruiting volunteers across various departments for this summer’s event including Circuit Marshals, Information Services, Guest Navigators, Food Services, Hospitality Services and a new addition this year – Ticket Services. This new volunteer department will be focused on assisting guests with seating issues, ensuring proper ticket entry at admission gates and providing directions across the venue. For those new to the DGPA in 2025, first-year members are welcome to join the organization's Volunteer Resource Pool. This department will offer an array of volunteer experiences at the Grand Prix by assisting multiple departments throughout the event. New members also have the option of committing to one full day of volunteering or working two half-day shifts leading up to and during Grand Prix weekend.
To become a member of the DGPA and volunteer for the 2025 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear, individuals are required to pay an annual membership fee of $20. This fee helps cover the organization’s expenses associated with various volunteer benefits, including a membership patch, a commemorative lapel pin, a certificate of appreciation and access to exclusive DGPA social events, including the annual Volunteer Kickoff Party hosted in the spring. In addition, Grand Prix volunteers also receive an event credential that grants them access to the venue throughout race weekend, official uniform shirts and hats, free parking for the event, meals provided each day of race weekend and an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party hosted after the Grand Prix each year. For more information on the DGPA and to sign up as a volunteer for the 2025 Grand Prix, visit DetroitGP.com.
In 2024, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear once again drew impressive crowds with sold-out grandstands on Sunday for the second consecutive year. Free access across more than half of the venue throughout the weekend helped attract a crowd of approximately 150,000 people to Downtown Detroit, matching the attendance from 2023. With nearly 1,500 volunteers helping to ensure a smooth and successful event, the Grand Prix shined a positive light on Detroit by connecting the surrounding communities across city, while generating millions of dollars in economic benefit to the region.
The 35th Grand Prix event in the City’s history will return to the 1.7-mile, nine-turn Streets of Downtown Detroit circuit that runs along the award-winning Detroit Riverwalk, May 30-June 1, 2025. With new viewing options and entertainment packages, fans can purchase tickets at www.DetroitGP.com/Tickets or through the event’s Ticket Hotline at 888-811-PRIX (7749).
